Azerbaijan, Baku, 7 June / Trend / State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reported that in April to May it exported about 52.8mln cu m of gas to Georgia. Some 40.5mln cu m of gas was supplied in May. Gas supply to the country was commenced in April.
Some 1.2-1.5mln cu m of gas is supplied to Georgia per day. In 2007, Azerbaijan was supplying SOCAR's gas to Georgia at the price of $120 per 1,000 cu m. This year the price increased but it is not divulged. SOCAR has own gas which it produces by itself. SOCAR produces gas by itself.
In February to March, SOCAR supplied 30mln cu m of its own natural gas to Iran. Gas is pumped to the country via the pipelines of Azerigaz CJSC at the price of $300 per 1,000 cu m.
Azerbaijan and Iran are connected by Gazi-Mahammad-Astara-Bind-Biand gas pipeline, with a total length of 1,474km (296.5km in Azerbaijan). Its carrying capacity makes up 10bln cu m a year. This route is a branch of Gazakh-Astara-Iran pipeline which was put into exploitation in 1971. Three compressor plants were constructed during the route - in Gazi-Mahammad, Agdash and Gazakh. The gas transportation system with the diameter of 1,200mm is intended for 55 atmospheres.
