Construction of Oguz-Gabala-Baku Water Pipe to Complete in 2008

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 July / Trend corr E.Ismayilov/ "Construction of Oguz-Gabala-Baku water pipe will be completed this year, but exact time for completion has not yet been specified," head of Azersu OJSC Nizamaddin Rzayev said on 4 July.

"So far, over 150km of the pipe has been constructed. Artesian wells are being drilled at the spring," said Rzayev. The water pipe goes through eight regions, in which number of owners totals 3,974 with 2,365 hectares of land. 

Presently, water is supplied to Baku from four springs. Baku's water supply is provided by two main water treating complexes, 25 regional and 633 district pumping stations, main lines with the length of 1,500km, 2,900 water distributing lines, 11 central (volume of 902,000 cu m) and 317 regional water reservoirs with the volume of 147,000 cu m. Baku receives 12.8cu m of water  per second.
