Oil&Gas Materials 29 August 2008 12:57 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 August / Trend corr. E.Ismayilov / Volume of cargo transported to the Georgian Black Sea ports was reduced by 30%-40%, source at the oil transportation market on 28 August.

"At present goods turnover in this direction amounts to 60%-70% of previous figures," the source at the market said. Basically, oil and oil products are delivered to this port.

Reduction of goods turnover in the Black Sea direction is explained with the decrease of speed traffic and number of compositions heading for the alternative bridge, where cargo transportations are temporarily realized because of its decay (it was built in 1901).

Traffic at the Georgian Black Sea ports was suspended in mid-August because of blast of railway bridge near to the Georgian city of Kaspi, which led to this direction. At present this bridge is under repair and it is planned to finish repair within 7-10 days, the Georgian railway said.

Currently, transportation in this direction is being realized on alternative railway bed, where repair work was done within two or three days after blast of main railway section.
