KfW Suggested to Finance Power Project in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 September/ Trend , corr. I.Khalilova/ The state electricity producer in Azerbaijan Azerenerji OJSC suggested the German bank KfW to finance construction of the high-voltage electricity line in Absheron, Marlen Askerov, the vice-president of Azerenerji, said.

The negotiations between Azerbaijani government and KfW about perspectives of the future collaboration in power sector of the country are run during the visit of the German bank's power expert, Piter Brikman, to Baku, in KfW Baku office reported. His visit ended on 24 September.

The bank is already financing construction of the electricity line AZSDPS - Imishli and €30mln was granted in this respect. The project stipulates construction of 195km-long electricity lines from AZSDPS (in Mingyachevir) to Imishli. It is planned to build the sub-station in Gyoranboy and to widen the area of power supply at the Imishli sub-station with the capacity of 330kVt, through establishing a separate cell. After construction of the electricity lines the capacity of ETL will increase from the current 200MV to 700 MV. Construction work should finish by 2009.
