TengizChevroil (TCO) intends to deliver Tengiz oil via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) in 2009, TCO Director General Todd Levi said.
"We have an approved program on the issue. We will continue our deliveries via the BTC in 2009," Levi said. He is currently in Astana participating in an Environmental Protection Ministry meeting.
Levi refused to divulge the amount of deliveries.
"In the future we will need all available export routes to deliver Tengiz oil to world markets," Levi said. He stressed that the company placed a strong preference on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) and Kazakhstan Caspian Transport System (KCTS).
In late October, Kazakhstan began transporting oil via the BTC.
ChevronTexaco is a key shareholder in TengizChevroil.
TengizChevroil is developing the Tengiz field.
Tengiz oil is also delivered to Baku and transported via railway to Georgia's Black Sea port in Batumi.
