The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) will drill 10 or 12 wells in the shallow section of the Gunashli field in 2009, a SOCAR source said.
Gunashli is SOCAR's largest oil-and-gas field.
The drilling is carried out in accordance with the Oil-and-Gas Production Unit's new draft signed on May 28. The draft covers 2008-2010 and will stabilize oil production and increase natural gas production.
