SOCAR gasifies Georgian regions

During the SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) President, Rovnag Abdullayev's visit, Georgia held a ceremony beginning of gas supply in three regions of the country, head of SOCAR Georgia Gas, Anar Mammadov, said. SOCAR Georgia Gas possesses 31 gas facilities in Georgia.

"The ceremony of gas supply has already taken place in the town of Dmanisi, and the Yolmuganlo village of the Sagarejo the region and the Ninigori village of the Lagodekhi region will also be supplied with gas," said Mammadov. Dmanisi is one of the regions of Georgia, where Azerbaijanis live compactly.

Mammadov said the potential number of subscribers that can connect to the distribution network in the Dmanisi region center is 400, in the Yormuganlo village - 1,400, and in the Ninigori - 300.

On Dec. 26, SOCAR and the Georgian Government signed an agreement to operate 30 gas supply grids and gas distribution networks in the Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida and Kvemo Kartli, Ajaria, Guria, Imereti, Samegrelo regions of Georgia. These networks are operated by 24 companies.

In April, SOCAR Energy Georgia acquired a gas distribution network in the Marneuli region populated by Azerbaijani community.  Marneuli has 31 gas supply grids operated by SOCAR Georgia.

Gas distribution networks in Marneuli were previously owned Wissol, which bought gas from SOCAR and was selling it in Marneuli. Now the whole cycle of works in this direction will be implemented by SOCAR Energy Georgia.

Under a three-year investment program, the company plans to increase number of subscribers from 60,000 to 150,000 in total, Mammadov said earlier. In the first year, a gas distribution network with a total length of 800 kilometers will be built for 57,000 new potential consumers. In the first investment year, over $28.6 million will be invested in the development of gas distribution networks.
