Iran will purchase 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan per year. This agreement has already been achieved, the Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan said.
"During the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov's visit to Iran, which will be held after the month of Ramadan [ending on Sept. 20], this issue will be discussed," Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Muhammadbaghir Bahrami said at a news conference.
The ambassador said the negotiations on the purchase of gas will also be continued during the visit of the representatives of Azerbaijan's oil and gas sector, "said Bahrami. He did not divulge dates of the visit of the oil and gas sector officials.
The contract on development of off-shore Shah Deniz field was signed on 4 June 1996. Shah Deniz participating interests are: ВР (operator - 25.5 percent), StatoilHydro (25.5 percent), SOCAR (10 percent), LukAgip (10 percent), NICO (10 percent), Total (10 percent), and TPAO (9 percent).
