Georgia, Tbilisi, March 24 / Trend N. Kirtskhalia /

Several options are considered for the construction of a gas liquefaction plant, Georgian Deputy Energy Minister Mariam Valishvili said.

A gas terminal can be built in Supsa, Poti and Kulevi. The location depends on the commercial component of the project, the deputy minister said.

Valishvili said that there is active cooperation between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Romania within the project.

The project envisages the construction of a gas pipeline from Azerbaijan to the Black Sea, a gas liquefaction plant on the Black Sea coast of Georgia and the transportation of liquefied natural gas to Romania.

According to the information, registration of a memorandum between Georgia, Azerbaijan and Romania on the project is scheduled for late March in Bucharest.

The project budget is estimated at 4-6 billion euros.

A cooperation protocol in the energy sphere between Georgia and Romania was signed in Tbilisi in October 2009.
