Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have decided to work together to study global energy markets at the interstate level, Turkmen media reported today.

A Turkmen-Azerbaijani joint intergovernmental economic cooperation commission issued the decision at a recent meeting in Baku, the Vatan newspaper reported.

Turkmenistan borders Azerbaijan via the Caspian Sea. The two countries are heavily interested in the transportation of energy from the Caspian region to world energy markets.

The newspaper added that the two countries will work together to study petrochemical product, textile, fishery, and processed agriculture product markets.

Meanwhile, the Neytralniy Turkmenistan newspaper wrote that the meeting also defined the priority directions of the two countries' future partnership.

The sides defined as priority areas iron and steel, electrical equipment supplies, petroleum production and agricultural processing products, as well as transport, communications and IT.
