Imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) by the EU countries increased by 15 percent to 61.573 billion cubic meters in 2009, a statistical report of the European Gas Union Eurogas for 2010 says.
According to the report posted on Eurogas official website in December, Qatar's share in EU's LNG imports significantly increased, hitting 25 percent last year. Algeria's share in LNG supply to the EU in 2009 amounted to 30 percent, Nigeria - 17 percent, Egypt - 11 percent, Trinidad and Tobago - 10 percent, Norway and Oman - 3 percent each, Libya - 1 percent.
The highest amount of LNG imports to the EU countries in 2009 fell to Spain - 28.178 billion cubic meters.
