The fuel oil and gas oil consumption in Iranian power plants increased by 3.1 percent and about 5 percent respectively in the period from March 21, 2010 to February 26, 2011, compared to the same period of the previous year, Shana reported quoting the Head of the providing and distribution of oil products department at the NIOPDC Hosain Aghaian as saying.
According to Aghaian, totally 13.921 billion liters of liquid fuels and 40.446 billion cubic meter of natural gas have been delivered to the power plants since the beginning of the current Iranian year (which started March 21, 2010) including 8.403 billion liters of fuel oil and 5.518 billion liters of gas oil, Aghayan said.
The National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) is in charge of providing liquid fuels for Iranian power plants. In addition to natural gas, Iranian power plants use fuel oil and gas oil to generate electricity.
