The Georgian State Electric System will begin to build a new 500-kilovolt power transmission line linking Georgia with Azerbaijan, the company told Trend.

According to the information, the negotiations with the Azerbaijani side on this issue are actively held.

The total length of the line will hit approximately 20 kilometers. The state electric system will build 9.7 kilometers of lines and reconstruct a substation Gardabani.
"We consider construction of this line as a part of the Black Sea power line project. Its construction is of great importance not only for the country, but for the whole Caucasus region. The project is financed by the state electric system, which is about 5 million lari. Presumably, we will have a new power line linking the country with Azerbaijan by late 2011 - early 2012. This will be another step towards enhancing energy security of our country, " a representative of the state electric system.
