Kazakhstan increases volume of gas exports

The volume of gas exports to Kazakhstan amounted to about 4.2 billion cubic meters in January-April 2011 compared to about 3.62 billion cubic meters during the same period of 2010, the Kazakh Statistics Agency's National Dispatching Department told Trend.

In April 2011, gas exports to the country amounted to 861 million cubic meters compared to just over one billion cubic meters in April last year. Thus, in April 2011 gas exports to the country hit 26.5 percent with extraction of approximately 3.25 billion cubic meters.

Gas consumption in the country amounted to 4.47 billion cubic meters in January-April 2011 compared to over 4.4 billion cubic meters during the same period of 2010.

In April 2011 the volume of gas consumption by regions hit 706.2 million cubic meters, which is 39.4 percent less than last month and 73.2 percent more than in April 2010.

Gas imports into the country amounted to about 2.6 billion cubic meters in January-April 2011 compared to about 2.23 billion during the same period of 2010. In April 2011, imports of natural gas into the country amounted to 353.1 million cubic meters, which is 47.7 percent less than last month and 3.5 percent more than in April last year.
