Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Sept. 22 / Trend H. Hasanov /

An interstate meeting of TAPI member-countries has been held in Ashgabat these days, the official Turkmen source said on Thursday.

The source said that the delegations held talks on the fuel price behind closed doors. The parties prepare a draft agreement for sale and purchase of natural gas.

Moreover, the agenda includes the issues of forming an international consortium.

An interstate agreement on the project implementation was signed at a high level in Ashgabat in December 2010. It is the basic document to promote TAPI.

The length of the TAPI can be more than 17,000 km. Its design capacity is 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.

Six compressor stations will be built from the Turkmen fields to the Fazilka settlement (India) on the border between Pakistan and India.

The experts stressed that the unstable situation in Afghanistan is a major obstacle to implement the TAPI gas pipeline.
