Iran increases electricity production

Iran has increased electricity production to 139,195 Giga watt hour over the past six months of current solar year (started on March 20, 2011), Mehr News Agency reported quoting Energy Ministry data.

This year Iran's electricity production increased by 77.5 Giga watt hour to 139,195 Giga watt per hour compared to last year.

The hydroelectric plants increased production by 6.25 percent, while thermal power plants the reduced production by 0.25 percent.

Iran 's power plants provided a total of 141,361 Giga watt per hour energy this year, recording 0.33 percent increase.

By removing subsides the power consumption rate in the country reduced and created good opportunity for export.

Iran is exporting electricity to Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iraq and Afghanistan
