Georgia, Tbilisi, Nov.18 / Trend, N. Kirtskhalia /

Georgia intends to increase purchase of Azerbaijani gas from 2012, Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation General Director Zurab Janjgava told journalists on Friday.

"After commissioning new facilities and construction of a new section of the gas pipeline we intend with Azerbaijan to increase gas purchase by 30 percent," he said.

Janjgava stressed that new realities -implementation of presidential program "Gas to every family" with the assistance of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the company "Itera-Georgia" and increase in production capacity - require it.

According to Janjgava, in early 2012 construction of the Navtlugi-Saguramo section of the Georgian gas pipeline in the direction of Azerbaijan will be completed.
Recently Janjgava and First Deputy Minister of Energy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Valishvili visited the construction site of the section, which is conducted by company "New Energy".

Janjgava said Navtlugi-Saguramo section is the last within a three-year program of rehabilitation "Red Bridge - Saguramo" gas pipeline. This project aims at ensuring increased gas supplies from Azerbaijan to the Western Georgia's population.
