Uzbekistan’s oil and gas production downs

In January-October 2011, Uzbekistan produced 2,897 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons - oil and gas condensate - down 7.2 per cent from the respective period of last year, Uzbek State Statistics Committee reported on Wednesday.

The decrease includes reduction of oil production by 8.8 per cent to 1,556 million tons and gas condensate production by 5.2 per cent to 1,341 million tons.

Since the beginning of the year, natural gas production in Uzbekistan decreased by 4.1 per cent to 51.33 billion cubic meters.
Following the results of first 10 months of the year, the production of gasoline decreased by 2.3 per cent to 1,156,000 million tons; kerosene-by 4.4 per cent to 293,300 tons, diesel fuel-by 1.2 per cent to 956,200 tons, and petroleum bitumen-by 14.2 per cent to 139,300 tons. In the period, the production of liquid hydrocarbon gases increased by 4.5 per cent up to 197,100 tons.

The monopolistic operator of Uzbek oil and gas industry is Uzbekneftegaz, the National Holding Company that yields more than 90 per cent of hydrocarbons production in the country.

Established in 1998, Uzbekneftegaz unites six joint-stock companies.

In 2010, the production of liquid hydrocarbons in Uzbekistan decreased by 17.9 per cent against 2009 to 3,662 million tons, including fall of production of gas condensate by 22.5 per cent to 1,644 million tons and of production of oil by 13.5 per cent to 2,018 million tons. Natural gas production decreased by 2.1 percent to 60.112 billion cubic meters.
