Kazakhstan and China should launch new oil and gas projects, the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Hu Jintao said to Kazakh republican newspaper Liter.
"Kazakhstan is the largest producer of oil and natural gas. China is one of the largest consumers of energy. Chinese-Kazakh energy cooperation is strategic and mutually beneficial," Jintao said.
According to Jintao, the potentials for cooperation in oil and natural gas spheres are not exhausted.
"We should increase oil and natural gas production and trade, promote cooperation in oil refining and enhance energy cooperation between the two countries comprehensively," Jintao added.
Kazakhstan produced $1.76 billion in 2010. Some 16.4 percent of Kazakhstan's oil export goes to China.
