Kazakh KazTransOil decreases oil transportation due to restricted oil supplies from Russia

Volume of oil transportation via Kazakh KazTransOil's main oil pipelines hit 4.591 million tons in January, 2012 compared to 4.666 million tons during the same period of 2011 (a 2-percent decrease), the company said on Wednesday.

According to the company, decline in oil transportation in January followed a decrease in Russian oil supplies to Kazakhstan.

Russia decided to reduce duty-free oil supplies to Kazakhstan to 6 million tons in 2012 from 7 million tons supplied in 2011.

The cargo turnover through the main oil pipelines decreased by 330 million tons per km (ten percent decrease) in January 2012 compared to the same period of 2011 and amounted to 2.816 billion tons per km.

Meanwhile, volume of oil transportation via the main pipelines to oil refineries increased in January. The volume of oil transportation to oil refineries amounted to roughly 1.155 million tons in January, 2012 compared to 1.153 million tons transported in January, 2012.
