The head of Iran's South Pars Gas company has asked that a special team be formed to quickly move the Persian Gulf gas and oil field's projects ahead, Shana news agency reports.

A special working group from the president's office should visit the Assaluyeh zone at least once every two months to go over South Pars projects, their progress and the materials they need, said South Pars Gas Company's chief Mousa Souri.

Manpower and performance pay have to be addressed if projects are to be sped up and teams with special authority and options should be formed to resolve South Pars issues as they come up, said Souri.

Iran and Qatar share the 9,700 square kilometer South Pars gas and oil field. Qatar, however, is far ahead of Iran in expoliting the field's resources. It currenlty produces 400,000 barrels a day of crude oil.

The Persian Gulf country began work on South Pars ten years before Iran and has intensifieddeveloping the field while Iran suffers international sanctions and technical and financial obstacles.
