The annual International Oil, Gas and Infrastructure Conference GIOGIE-2012 opened in Tbilisi on Wednesday. It is attended by 130 delegates from 15 countries.
'Georgia is a strategic crossroad for hydrocarbon transit in the Caspian region. The main directions of the energy policy are security, diversification of gas supplies, reconstruction of hydropower plants, construction of underground gas storage facilities and attracting foreign investments and privatisation', the GIOGIE official website reports.
The event traditionally receives support at the highest levels including the Ministry of Energy of Georgia, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia, Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and the British Georgian Chamber of Commerce (BGCC).
