World Bank to hold conference in Tashkent to reduce associated gas flaring

The World Bank (WB) will hold a Regional conference on reductions in associated gas flaring on June 14, 2012 in Tashkent, representation of the World Bank in Tashkent told Trend.

The conference will be held by the International Organization of global partnership to reduce flaring of associated gas (GGFR), under the auspices of the World Bank, in cooperation with the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz.

It is expected that the conference will bring together representatives of governments and national oil companies of Europe and Central Asia, as well as representatives of international oil companies and international financial institutions.

The conference will discuss issues and possible ways to reduce emissions and flaring of gas into the atmosphere. Preparation of the conference program will be completed in the near future.

The regional conference is also an annual meeting of the Regional Steering Committee of GGFR in Europe and Central Asia on reducing flaring of associated gas, created by the Partnership to coordinate the overall efforts and activities of governments and oil companies operating in the region.

GGFR partner in Uzbekistan is the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegaz.

The Regional Steering Committee of GGFR in Europe and Central Asia are also involved the Ministry of Economy and the State Committee for Nature Protection of Uzbekistan.
