In January-August, Azerenergy (electricity generation and distribution in Azerbaijan) generated about 14.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to about 13.2 billion kilowatt-hours during the same period of last year, Azerenergy said on Monday.
Of the total electricity generated in January-August, thermal power plants accounted for about 13 billion kilowatt-hours and hydropower plants - about 1.5 billion.
In August, Azerenergy generated about 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to over 1.5 billion in August 2011.
Planned power interchange with Russia, Georgia, Turkey, and Iran continued during this period.
