Kazakh Aktau Port increases oil cargo transhipment in January

The Kazakh Aktau International Sea Commercial Port transhipped 864,000 tons of oil cargo in January 2013 compared to 662,300 tons in the same period of 2012, the Port's website reported on Tuesday.

In total in 2012 the port transshipped about 7.6 million tons of oil cargo compared to over 8.03 million tons in 2011.

Some oil transhipped through the Aktau Port is transported to Baku, from where it is supplied to the Black Sea Port of Georgia via railway.

In particular, in January 94,000 tons of the total amounts of handled cargo accounted for hardware, 121,000 tons ferry cargo, 48,000 tons of grain and 26,000 tons - other goods.

In total in January the port transshipped 1.15 million tons of cargo or by 31.3 percent more than the expected volume.

In January, Aktau port received 177 ships.
