Iraq increased oil exports up to 78 million barrels in April 2013 compared to 74.9 million barrels in March, Iraqi Oil Ministry spokesman Asym Jihad told Trend today.

According to Jihad, in April, Iraq exported on average 2.6 million barrels of oil per day.

Iraq's income from oil exports in April amounted to $8 billion compared to $7.7 billion in March.

Average oil production in Iraq totaled 3.1 million barrels per day in April 2013 compared to 3.2 million barrels in March.

Earlier Jihad told Trend that Iraq increased its explored oil reserves by 10 billion barrels due to international tenders organised in the country for the exploration and development of new hydrocarbon fields.

Based on the research, it was found that the proven oil reserves in Iraq constitute 150 billion barrels, Jihad said.

The main oil fields in Iraq are in the south of the country. They are Rumaila, Zubair, Nahr Umr, Majnun and West Qurna. At least 80 per cent of the oil produced in Iraq is exported.
