The report on preparation of documents of cooperation in oil and gas sphere, which are planned to be signed during the upcoming visit of Turkmen governmental delegation to Japan, was submitted to Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Turkmen government said on Tuesday.
According to the report, Turkmen president noted that "it is necessary to pay special attention to the issues of further development of long-term mutually beneficial Turkmen-Japanese cooperation".
It was also ordered to take all appropriate measures to ensure effective work in production facilities of oil and gas complex, which is the most important, strategic sector of national economy.
It was earlier reported that Turkmenistan holds negotiations with the representatives of Japanese Bank of International Cooperation (JBIC).
Turkmenistan views the possibility of participation of Japanese companies in joint investment projects in petrochemical, gas processing, electrotechnical and other sectors of industry.
Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's official visit to Tokyo in 2009 gave impetus to the relations with Japan. Within this visit a number of intergovernmental documents and contracts were signed with Japanese companies, such as JGC Corporation, ITOCHU Corporation, Kawasaki Plant Systems Ltd и Sojitz Corporation, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries и Mitsubishi Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Asahi Kasei Chemicals Corporation.
According to official Tokyo, high technologies of Japan and rich natural resources of Turkmenistan are complementary.
A number of projects in Turkmenistan are implemented at the expenses of JBIC commercial loans. The participation in the project for modernization of Fuel and Energy Complex, in particular, $1.6 billion worth modernization of the largest refinery plant of the country in Turkmenbashi is especially noticeable.
