Azerbaijan's achievements in the field of alternative and renewable energy sources and the capacity of relevant agencies enable the country to take part in pilot projects in this field abroad, director of the Azerbaijani State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources, Akim Badalov told journalists at the second meeting of the expert group on alternative energy sources of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) on Nov.20.
According to him, in recent years the country has achieved great success in the development of alternative energy and opportunities in this area allow it to participate in the implementation of relevant projects abroad.
Currently, the share of alternative energy sources in the total energy production including small hydro power plants in the country is two per cent. According to Badalov, the main purpose of development of this area is not figures, but providing the country's population with qualitative and uninterrupted electricity.
