The 28th session of the international Energy Charter Conference is underway in Ashgabat.

The conference is being chaired by Turkmenistan this year.

Particular attention is paid to the importance of addressing the issues of ensuring safe transit through transcontinental gas pipelines, said the Turkmen Dovlet Habarlary state agency in its report.

At one of the plenary sessions of the conference, the participants touched upon the legal aspects of regulating partner relations between producing countries, transit countries and consumers of energy resources, according to the report.

The event’s agenda also includes an assessment of investment risks in the energy sector, an analysis of the main problems and options for the development of the global energy market.

The event is being attended by heads and representatives of ministries and authorities of member countries and observer countries, as well as a number of influential international and regional organizations.

Having gathered more than 200 delegates from 50 countries, the Turkmen capital once again confirmed its high status as an international platform for discussions on the current state and tendencies of global development, including on global energy issues, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on Nov. 29.
