By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

Turkish company "Arar Petrol AŞ" received a license for oil and gas exploration in the country, the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources told Trend on Jan. 25.

The license has been issued for the exploration of oil and gas in a total area of 175,000 hectares in Turkey’s Adana, Osmaniye and Mersin provinces.

Arar Petrol AŞ appealed to the ministry on June 13, 2018 to obtain the license.

“Turkey has expanded the territory for oil and gas exploration operations,” the ministry told Trend earlier.

Earlier, there were problems with oil and gas exploration in several Turkish eastern provinces. Hydrocarbon fields are also being explored in those provinces.

"This work is also carried out in the Black Sea," the ministry said.

The law entered into force in Turkey in April 2014 allowing oil exploration in forests and national parks.

According to the ministry’s report, a total of 56 wells have been drilled since 2014 as part of the exploration of new oil and gas fields in Turkey, of which 54 are onshore and two - offshore.
