Chinese bank may participate in Uzbekistan’s energy projects

Representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and Uzbekneftegaz met with members of the delegation of State Development Bank of China (CBRK) and discussed issues of mutually beneficial cooperation, Trend reports with reference to Uzbek media.

As part of the negotiations, the foreign guests were familiarized with the ongoing reforms in the fuel and energy sector of Uzbekistan. Other aspects of the partnership in this area were also discussed.

In turn, representatives of the State Development Bank of China highly praised the reforms carried out in the Uzbek fuel and energy complex, noting the increased interest of foreign investors to this sphere. They provided information on the activities of the Bank and its positive experience in implementing key investment projects in the oil and gas industry in Uzbekistan.

As an example, the successful participation of the bank in financing the construction of a new Uzbekistan GTL plant for the production of synthetic liquid fuel was noted.

Uzbek side offered representatives of CBRK to consider the possibility of participating in the projects on expansion of the production capacity of the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex, implementation of automated gas metering system, and production of olefin and liquid fuel from coal.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the dialogue and explore the potential for cooperation.
