Untapped Kalamkas “A” offshore, Khazar oil fields of Kazakhstan to be developed

The development concept of Kalamkas “A” offshore and Khazar oil fields both in Kazakhstan sector of Caspian Sea by drilling of wells is being worked on at the moment, said Richard Howe, Managing Director of North Caspian Operating Company, Trend reports referring to Kazinform news agency.

The geological reserves of both oil fields are assessed to be 70 million tons of oil.

“The developed concept is to be presented to government of Kazakhstan. The work on the fields is to be held in partnership with Caspi Meruerty Operating Company BV. It is estimated that the drilling of over 30 wells is needed for the development,” explained Howe.

“Furthermore, specialists estimate that the oil extraction volume of these fields can reach 100,000 barrels a day,” the report said.
