By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:

Uzbekneftegaz and Gazprom are discussing the possibility of cooperation in the project of geological exploration and production of hydrocarbons in four investment blocks and one promising section in three regions of Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

"Uzbekneftegaz" company expects in 2020 joint exploration with Gazprom on new areas in Uzbekistan, the chairman of the board of the company Bakhodzhon Sidikov said at a briefing on Friday.

He noted that the second meeting of the coordination committee of Uzbekneftegaz and Gazprom was held earlier in Tashkent within the framework of the strategic partnership agreement signed in June 2017. The Committee is headed by the head of Uzbekneftegaz and the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprom, Vitaly Markelov.

“The main agreement with Gazprom is that this year we will have to pass on concrete proposals to the government in order to start implementing the project from 2020,” Sidikov said.

He clarified that the parties are discussing the possibility of cooperation on the project of exploration and production of hydrocarbons in four investment blocks and one promising area in three regions of Uzbekistan - in Karakalpakstan, Fergana and Kashkadarya regions.

The head of Uzbekneftegaz reported that a “road map” has been developed for each investment unit, which describes all the mechanisms for implementing the project.

“We expect that by the end of the year, investment proposals will be prepared for all our blocks,” he added.

The agreement on strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Gazprom provides for interaction between the parties in the implementation of new projects in the country, in particular, in the field of reconstruction, construction and operation of gas infrastructure facilities; exploration, production, processing and storage of hydrocarbons; use of compressed and liquefied natural gas for autonomous gas supply and the development of a general gas supply scheme for the country.

Currently, Gazprom, under the terms of a production-sharing agreement, participates in the restoration of gas production at the Shakhpakhty field, and in 2021 it plans to start gas production at the Dzhel field on the Ustyurt plateau.
