Bulgartransgaz inks major contract as part of Balkan Gas Hub concept

Bulgartransgaz EAD of Bulgaria and Association Consortium Arkad signed a Contract for the procurement of the necessary materials and equipment, investment design, construction and commissioning of the expansion of the gas transmission infrastructure from the Turkish-Bulgarian to the Bulgarian-Serbian border, Trend reports citing Bulgartransgaz.

The total value of the contract amounts up to EUR 1 102 203 220,11 (one billion one hundred and two million two hundred and three thousand two hundred twenty and eleven euro cents), VAT excluded.

As part of the concept of the Balkan Gas Hub the expansion of the gas transmission network will boost the energy security of the countries of the region of South East Europe. The Balkan Gas Hub concept expects natural gas from different sources, including the Russian Federation.

On December 21, 2018 Bulgartransgaz EAD announced the procurement procedure for the construction of the linear part stage of the expansion of the gas transmission infrastructure to the Bulgarian-Serbian border – the Balkan Stream.

The procedure has been carried out in line with the Public Procurement Act /PPA/ and includes the procurement of the necessary materials and equipment, investment design, construction and commissioning of the expansion of the gas transmission infrastructure starting from the lands of Zlatina village, Provadia municipality, where it links to the existing gas transmission network of Bulgartransgaz EAD to the Bulgarian-Serbian border.

The gas transmission pipeline envisaged for construction is approximately 474 km long, with DN 1200 diameter and 7.5 MPa maximum operating pressure. Together with the construction of the gas transmission pipeline, two optic cable lines will be constructed, which will be laid on both sides of the gas transmission pipeline to the Bulgarian-Serbian border.

The gas pipeline route will cross the lands of 11 districts through which Bulgartransgaz EAD established an easement for its construction.

Within 250 (two hundred and fifty) calendar days, a section of about 308 (three hundred and eight) km length will be constructed from Compressor station Polski Senovets, located on the territory of Polski Trambesh Municipality to the Bulgarian-Serbian border, for which Building permits have been issued by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and entered into force.

In the remaining term of the contract - up to 615 (six hundred and fifteen) calendar days, the rest of the gas pipeline route will be constructed, namely 166 (one hundred sixty-six) km from Compressor station Polski Senovets to the land of Zlatina village, Provadia Municipality.
