Until the end of 2021, Uzbekistan can switch to Smart Metering gas meters, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.
Russian Gazdevice company will open an enterprise for their production on the territory of the Free Economic Zone "Navoi" in Uzbekistan. the report said.
Gazdevice is creating a gas metering device under the name “Smart Metering” jointly with the Urbanization Agency under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Industry.
The capacity of the enterprise will be from 750,000 units per year. Foreign direct investment in it will amount to $20 million taking into account the transfer of author's design and technical documentation. Production will create 200 jobs and bring the localization level to 37 percent.
The Russian company has successfully tested smart gas meters of its own production in the Bektemir district of Tashkent and received Uzstandard agency certificates. The smart gas meters produced by Gazdevice will be connected to a unified system of automated process control systems.
Production launch is scheduled for the first quarter of 2020. By the end of the year, meters will be installed in city of Tashkent, Tashkent and Samarkand regions, and in 2021 - throughout the rest of the country.
Moreover, at the suggestion of the Urbanization Agency, only gas meters of local production will be installed in new homes, as contracting organizations are allowed to purchase Gazdevice products without a tender.
The installation and sealing of gas meters will be handled by authorized employees of Khududgaztaminot and the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau. They will ensure the submission of metering devices for state verification every 10 years.
