The investment on essential equipment in the electrical industry has doubled in the current Iranian year (began from March 20, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year spokesman for the Ministry of Energy of Iran Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to Rajabi Mashhadi, in the first stage, the announced investments on the supply of major power plants will be made.
Rajabi Mashhadi added that 60 percent of produced electricity in Iran belongs to the private sector.
The spokesman said that with the increase of 1 million new subscribers a year, Iran's electricity industry should not remain idle in the field of investment, and along with the production facilities, the necessary potential should be used.
"For this reason, the commissioning of new facilities in the water and electricity sector in Iran began last Iranian year. It is planned to continue this process this year as well,” he said.
Rajabi Mashhadi said that about 150 trillion rials (about $3.51 billion) funds are allocated by state to the electricity sector per year in Iran and about 70-80 trillion rials (about $1.6-$1.9 billion) are invested.
About 250 water, electricity and sewerage facilities are planned to be commissioned in the country this Iranian year (starting from March 20, 2020). About 500 trillion rials (about $11.9 billion) have been spent on these facilities.
The facilities to be commissioned include launch of power plants and substations, power supply to various regions, commissioning of various water reservoirs and water dams, cleaning of rivers, water supply to agricultural areas.
With 330 trillion rials (about $7.85 billion) funds 227 facilities in the water and electricity sector were commissioned in 31 provinces of Iran in the second half of last Iranian year (began as of September 23, 2019).
