SOCAR Petroleum reveals figures on LNG sales over years

SOCAR Petroleum CJSC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company SOCAR, produced and sold 62.6 million cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from 2015 through 2019, Trend reports citing SOCAR Petroleum.

As a result, consumers saved 22 million manat ($12.9 million) over the reporting period, said the message.

“As a result of research, we see that greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere of the country decreased by 30,000 tons. We can say that this is equal to the consumption of carbon dioxide by 500,000 trees,” the message said.

SOCAR Petroleum has a network of 33 filling stations and 11 oil bases. The company has the only CNG terminal in the country, thus being the leader in introducing environmentally friendly fuels.

SOCAR Petroleum CJSC was established in January 2008 and is engaged in the retail trade of petroleum products, expanding the network of filling stations under the SOCAR brand. The company opened its first filling stations in Azerbaijan in May 2010.
