Turkmenistan may prepare joint review of country's oil, gas, energy sectors with IEA

Turkmenistan and the International Energy Agency (IEA) have discussed the possibility of preparing a joint review of the prospects of the country's oil and gas and energy sectors, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The mentioned topic was discussed during a videoconference of Executive Director of the International Energy Agency Fatih Birol and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for Oil and Gas Issues Myratgeldy Meredov at Central Office of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan on June 12, 2020.

The parties considered the possibility of organization short-term courses for training specialists, in order to forecast the evolution of international energy markets on medium-and long-term.

The introduction of technologies for energy efficiency and green energy was also discussed.

Towards the end of the meeting, the parties considered the prospects for establishing and developing cooperation on alternative and renewable energy sources.

IEA was created in 1974 to ensure the security of oil supplies. IEA is at the center of the global energy debate, focusing on a wide variety of issues, ranging from electricity security to investments, climate change and air pollution, energy access and efficiency, and much more.
