Iran's petrochemical products export amounted to about $10 billion in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company Behzad Mohammadi told mass media representatives, Trend reports referring to Shana news agency.
In total, the sales of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company amounted to $15 billion in the last Iranian year.
Mohammadi added that last year, a total of 31 million tons of final products were manufactured from 66 million tons of petrochemical products.
"Of the 31 million tons produced products, 8 million tons were sold domestically and 23 million tons were exported," the official said.
The deputy minister said that Iran's petrochemical sector purchased 35 million tons of fuel (800,000 barrels of crude oil) per day in the last year. This figure will reach 1.5 million barrels per day by the end of next year (begins March 21, 2021).
Iran is implementing two plans to increase the output of petrochemical products. According to the first plan, Iran's petrochemical production will increase from 66 million tons to 100 million tons a year, and the revenues will increase from $15 billion to $25 billion by March 20, 2022. According to the second plan, Iran's petrochemical production will reach 133 million tons a year and the revenues will reach $37 billion by March 20, 2026.
