BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 10

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

More than 70 percent of the equipment envisaged for implementation of new contracts in oil sector is provided at the expense of domestic production, said Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh, Trend reports citing IRINN.

He made the remark at an event held in connection with the issuance of the first standard certificate for oil industry equipment and product quality by the Standardization Department of the Iranian Petroleum Institute.

According to the minister, one of the programs of the Ministry of Petroleum of Iran was to pay attention to local production.

Zanganeh added that one of the important measures to support local production is the establishment of institution on issuance of quality standard certificate.

“Previously, local producers could get a certificate of quality from foreign companies. However, this is no longer possible with the US sanctions against Iran, "he said.

The minister noted that it is impossible to use products and equipment without standard certificates in the Iranian oil industry. Because, the risk in the oil industry is very high. Every small mistake can result in a national tragedy.

Zanganeh stressed that currently, Iran's relations with the world are weak. However, if relations with the world strengthen, the department of the Iranian Petroleum Institute for the issuance of standardization certificates will be accepted worldwide.

An important step in the technology of the oil industry has been taken in Iran with the establishment for the issuance of standardization certificates department and in the future, the certificates of this institution will be used not only in Iran, but also in other countries.
