By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The oil extraction from the Iran-United Arab Emirates joint Salman oil field (the field is called Abu Al Bukhoosh in the UAE) has been increased, Trend reports citing Iranian Offshore Oil Company’s website.

According to the report, the S1 platform was put into operation at the Salman oil field.

“The platform which weighs 1,050 tons, is manufactured domestically in Iran,” the report said.

The S1 wellhead platform, built by Tus Company in the Khorramshahr county under the control of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), was loaded on a ship for installation on January 13. The platform has a 12-inch submarine pipeline, in addition to two 6-inch pipelines. With the launch of the S1 platform, Iran's oil production from the field is expected to increase by about 6,000 barrels a day.

The Salman oil field is a joint oil field of Iran and the UAE. The field is located 144 km south of Lavan Island.

There are 44 oil wells on the Salman field. The reserves of the field reach 4.5 billion barrels of oil. So far, 1.1 billion barrels have been extracted and about 500 million barrels are projected to be extracted.

Reportedly, Iran is producing 60,000 barrels of oil on this field daily.
