Iran expands volume of gas reserves

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 27

The volume of gas pumped into Iran's Serajeh and Shourijeh gas storage facilities has increased since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to date, compared to the same period last Iranian year, Executive Director of Iranian Gas Transmission Company, Mehdi Jamshidi Dana said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

Jamshidi Dana said that 810 million cubic meters of gas were pumped into the Serajeh gas storage facility during the reporting period. This is an increase of 8 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 748 million cubic meters of gas were pumped into the Serajeh gas storage facility in the same period last Iranian year.

The director added 938 million cubic meters of gas was pumped into the Shourijeh gas storage facility in the same period last Iranian year. While this figure increased by 48 percent to 1.38 billion cubic meters in the current Iranian year.

“The increase in the volume of gas pumped into the storage facilities will greatly help to the sustainable supply of gas to Iran in the winter,” he noted.

Iran has two large gas storage facilities. The gas is pumped into these storage facilities during 8 months of the Iranian year and used in 4 cold months.
