Iran’s Hormozgan Province boosts bitumen production

The bitumen production from the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) increased by 20 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 20-September 21, 2020) compared to the same period last Iranian year, Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Hormozgan Province, Khalil Ghasemi said, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

According to the chairman, 1.03 million tons of bitumen were exported from the Hormozgan Province within 6 months.

Ghasemi added that the bitumen was mainly exported from Hormozgan Province to the UAE, Oman and India.

“A total of 1.29 million tons of bitumen were produced in Iran's Hormozgan Province in six months. This is an increase of 21 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

The chairman emphasized the Hormozgan Province currently accounts for 37 percent of total bitumen production in Iran and in this regard, the province ranks first in Iran.

At present, there are 27 enterprises operating on bitumen production in Iran's Hormozgan Province.
