Iran's Rey TPP boosts its electricity generation

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 12

The volume of electricity generated at the Rey Thermal Power Plant in Tehran Province of Iran increased by 20 percent during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through October 21, 2020) compared to the same period of the last Iranian year, the Executive Director of Rey Power Generation Management Company Hamid Badorestani said, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

The director stressed that more than 1.74 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity was generated at the thermal power plant in seven months.

Badorestani 1.73 billion kilowatt-hours of generated electricity has been added to Iran's electricity network.

“In addition, the thermal power plant generated 227 million kilowatt-hours of electricity in the 7th month of current Iranian year (September 22 through October 21),” he said.

The director noted that of this volume, 226 million kilowatt-hours have been added to Iran's electricity network.

Iran's Rey Thermal Power Plant has a total of 29 gas turbines and the generation capacity of this power plant is 979.4 megawatt hours. Due to the obsolescence of the equipment in the units of the TPP, only 21 gas units of the power plant are used. The generation capacity of 21 gas units is 754 megawatt-hours.
