World’s domestic natural gas consumption near 4 trillion cubic meters

World’s domestic natural gas consumption stood at 3.993 trillion cubic meters in 2019, Trend reports with reference to estimates of Gas Exporters Countries Forum (GECF).

Natural gas consumption saw a steady growth over the last decade: It stood at 3.311 trillion cubic meters in 2010, 3.410 trillion cubic meters in 2011, further rising to 3.466 trillion cubic meters in 2012.

The upward trend continued in 2013 with 3.503 trillion cubic meters, then rising to 3.558 trillion cubic meters in 2014, 3.631 trillion cubic meters in 2015, 3.666 trillion cubic meters in 2016, 3.778 trillion cubic meters in 2017, 3.892 trillion cubic meters in 2018 and 3.993 in 2019.

GECF’s share in the world’s domestic natural gas consumption varied between 24 percent and 28 percent during this period.

Domestic natural gas consumption in GECF countries stood at 804.62 billion cubic meters in 2010, 833.95 bcm in 2011, 899.87 bcm in 2012, 977.90 bcm in 2013, 998.10 bcm in 2014, 1.023 trillion cubic meters in 2015, 1.029 trillion cubic meters in 2016, 1.065 trillion cubic meters in 2017, 1.073 trillion cubic meters in 2018 and 1.091 trillion cubic meters in 2019.
