The possibility of using the potential of geothermal sources for generating energy will be explored in the liberated Azerbaijani territories soon, Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Energy Ministry Jahid Mikayilov told Trend.
“The reserves of thermal water in Kalbajar district reach 3,093 cubic meters while in Shusha city - 412 cubic meters per day,” spokesman said.
"In terms of the amount of solar radiation entering the earth surface, the southern part of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, namely, Fuzuli, Jabrayil and Zangilan districts, ranks second after the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic," Mikayilov added.
Some 22.9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Azerbaijan from January through November 2020, which is by 4.8 percent more than from January through November 2019.
Some 985.8 million kilowatt-hours of that volume accounted for hydroelectric power plants, which is by 32.3 percent less than during the period from January through November 2019.
Some 21.1 billion kilowatt-hours were produced by thermal power plants, which is by eight percent more than from January through November 2019.
The country produced 44 million kilowatt-hours of solar energy from January through November 2020, which is by 8.1 percent more than from January through November 2019.
