Extraction from Iran's Salman oil field stabilizes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 28

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The extraction from wells No.62 and 63 of the Iran-the UAE joint Salman oil field (called Abu Al Bukhoosh in the UAE) has stabilized, Trend reports citing Iranian Offshore Oil Company’s information portal.

According to the report, there were risks associated with unsustainable production from these wells. Thus, increasing the volume of water to be pumped into the wells on the S1 platform could result in the reduction of extraction from other wells in the Salman oil field.

“The determining the volume of water that will be pumped into other wells in this field, as well as certain changes, has led to the sustainable of production as planned,” the report said.

The extraction potential of the Salman field is about 220,000 barrels of oil per day and associated products.

The Salman oil field is a joint oil field between Iran and the United Arab Emirates, is located 144 km south of the Lavan Island. The Salman field has 44 oil wells and 10 water pressure wells. This field contains 4.5 billion barrels of oil, of which about 1.6 billion barrels can be extracted. So far, 1.1 billion barrels have been extracted. Iran extracts 60,000 barrels of oil per day from the field.
