Azerbaijan accounted for 100 percent of Ukraine’s oil imports in January 2021, Trend reports referring to Ukrainian media.

Ukraine’s import of oil and crude oil stood at 106,980 tons in January 2021, 1.9 times or 49,320 tons more compared to the same period in 2020.

In January 2021, the country imported $34.34 million worth crude oil, which is 14 percent more than in January 2020 ($30.12 million).

Ukraine did not export oil in January 2020 and 2021.

Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR’s representative office opened in Ukraine in 2008.

The company acquired about 20 Tala-Nafta filling stations in Odessa and Nikolaev regions, as well as Svitanok large oil depot in Odessa region in 2009.

The company took control of the fuelling networks ONIO (four filling stations in Kyiv and the region) and GFC (in Lviv region) in 2010-2011. SOCAR received permission from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to purchase 26 filling stations and one tank farm of the Kalina group in August 2012.
