Georgia reduces import of Azerbaijan's gas

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 19

Georgia imported 360,057.9 tons of gas from Azerbaijan, worth $58.32 million from January through February 2021, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistical Office of Georgia (Geostat).

According to the report, the cost of gas imported from Azerbaijan is $29.93 million (or 33.9 percent), the volume - 157,274.3 tons (or 30.4 percent) less in annual comparison.

So, in the first two months of 2020, Georgia imported 517,332.2 tons of gas from Azerbaijan in the amount of $88.25 million.

In the reporting period, Georgian goods worth $12.8 million were sold to Azerbaijan. On an annualized basis, the rate increased by 18 percent.

The share of the Azerbaijani market in the country's domestic export is 3.5 percent, which makes it the ninth largest exporter of Georgia.
