Turkey’s BOTAS company, one of the natural gas import license holders, has increased imports by 22.27 percent in October 2021, as compared to the same month of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Turkey’s Energy Markets Regulatory Authority (EPDK).
The company imported 4.395 billion cubic meters of gas in October 2021, versus 3.595 billion cubic meters in October 2020.
As for other license holders, Akfel Gaz reduced gas imports by 100 percent, from 167.96 million cubic meters in October 2020 to zero in October 2021. Avrasya Gaz didn’t import gas in October 2021, while its imports stood at 9.44 million cubic meters in October 2020. Bosphorus Gaz Corporation imported 195.50 million cubic meters in October 2021, as compared to 226.29 million cubic meters in the same months of 2020, a 13.61 percent decrease. Kibar Energy’s imports rose by 102.05 percent from 21.69 million cubic meters in October 2020 to 43.83 in October 2021. Shell Energy saw a 6.56 percent decrease from 21.03 million cubic meters to 22.41 million cubic meters.
Turkey’s overall gas imports rose by 15.24 percent in October 2021 year-on-year and stood at 4.657 billion cubic meters, with almost 3.023 billion cubic meters accounting for pipeline imports and 1.634 billion cubic meters imported as liquefied natural gas.
Pipeline imports decreased by 6,87 percent, while LNG imports saw a 105.49 percent growth.
The country’s natural gas consumption rose by 23.50 percent and reached 4.427 billion cubic meters.
